Etsy Love: Feeling Foxy

I figured I'd share some sweet Etsy finds that are related to...yep, you guessed it, Foxes!

First is the cutest little fox tank found at dark cycle clothing.

Next is an adorable foxy picnic print found at Paper Sparrow.

Liam from Sleepy King just might have to come live with me.

I'm in love with this coin purse from One Little Red Fox.

Uh-maaazing wooden panel found at My Azaria.

The Duke of NY print from Matte Art is super unique. I love all of his illustrations.

These are just a few of the cute foxy things I've found. There really are just too many to share them all! Miss Roo and I are off to the park for a good ol' game of fetch. Have a lovely day!

Bed Head

Lately I've had the urge to re-do my bed to make it a more comfortable place to hang out. Right now it's pretty basic- a bed with a blanket and a couple of pillows. Unacceptable. A person should think that their bed is the most confortable place in the world, shouldn't they? Here are some cozy spaces that I'm finding inspirational.

I have to admit that I am liking the mismatched spaces more than the more polished ones. They just seem more inviting. I love the idea of hanging something that will allow me to make my bed into an instant fort. I bought some white twinkle lights the other day to hang around my bed. Time to go get started!

Howl

Howl comes out tomorrow, and I am just so stinking excited to go see it! I love James Franco, and I have been fascinated with Allen Ginsberg and the whole beat generation since Junior year of high school. It also has Don Draper from Mad Men in it, which is a bonus.Check it out for yourself.

It's going be so so good! I just know it.

As of Late

Today is my first day off after seven consecutive days of working, and it feels wonderful! I have so many plans for today, I hope I can fit it all in... Right now, I'm listening to Tom Waits on the new record player I got last week and drinking coffee with some amaazzzing pumpkin pie spice creamer in it. I feel like I have been neglecting this blog because I have just been so busy with work that it has pretty much drained me. There were a few things I was going to post about, but I couldn't find the energy, so now I am just going to jumble it all into one random post. Fun!

First off, last week I took my adorable niece to the park for a picnic!

I told her we could eat anything in the world that she wanted on our picnic, and of course, she chose McDonald's chicken nuggets. Haha! what is up with kids and McDonald's? I just don't get it.

She colored in a Hello Kitty coloring book that i had on hand. What? I don't care if i am in my mid-twenties, I love Hello Kitty, and I still like to color. I read my book Magical Thinking by Augusten Burroughs, which I recently finished. Interesting...

After the picnic, we went over to the playground and played for about an hour. Fun times.

Uh oh, something came up. I'll finish this post very soon...

Okay I'm back. I had a small family emergency, so this day did not go according to plan...at all. Oh well, I still got to take Miss Roo to the dog park, and I made some pretty incredible "faux"jitas for dinner. This was quite a feat beacuse I am in no way shape or form anything close to a cook.( I'm trying to change that.)

In other news, I did end up dyeing my hair red, but it was a home job ,and more subtle than I was hoping for. It's definitely red though. next time around I will make it a little more dramatic. Baby steps...

I went back to the state fair. The second time around I did not have one single bite of an exciting fried concoction, but I rode some rides including dun dun dunnnnnnn.....the ferris wheel!

Here's a picture of the view!

This is a picture of the midway. I didn't take as many pictures the second time around...I kept forgetting.

Last, but certainly not least....I'm going to Portland next month!!!  I'm so so excited! I haven't been anywhere in a loooong time. My best friend and I are going, and we are going to be staying with a friend while we are there. I really think that Portland is the kind of city that I could eventually live in. It's going to be so fun!

I apologize for the randomness of this post, but I just wanted to fit it all in!

Oh, and Ruby Roo says Hi.

Hahah! This is post-bath, so she isn't a very happy little lady!

promises of a more legitimate post later...

Playlist of the Night

Mental Health Night

Tonight i've been indulging in what i like to call one of my "mental health" nights. These are nights where i do nothing but hang out with myself. i'm a "lone wolf" in a lot of ways, but i also like to be able to spend a sufficient amount of time with all of my friends and my boyfriend. typically, i like to have about one night a week all to myself to relax and restore my own sanity.

these are things i usually like to do on my "me" nights:

-clean my apartment (silly, i know, but i just feel so much better about everything if my personal space is clean.)
-discover new music
-take a bubble bath
-read, read, read! (i never get enough time for this!)
-dance around like a crazy person to old favorite music
-paint my nails
-chain drink cups of coffee or tea (tonight it's peppermint tea, yum!)
-craft or paint
-write in my journal
-make lists
-bake
-look through my closet and mix and match new outfit ideas
- look on the internet for inspiration

i got a late start tonight. i can't believe its already past 4 in the morning! i have plans to wake up at around 8:30 to get my thrift on. we'll just have to see how that works out. i went to the state fair with the bf today, and it wore me out, so i had a pretty nice nap earlier. i'll post some pics tomorrow/later today?! ugh, it's time for bed!

I Can't Wait

to carve into some of these bad boys!

I'm thinking im going to have a little get together next week where we all just carve pumpkins, toast the seeds and drink a few pumpkin spice beers.

oh, and Hocus Pocus is undoubtedly going to be playing in the background! i don't care what anyone says, i love this movie!

i wish this was my front yard. isn't it just amazing?!

Fair Day

Today i went to the Texas State Fair! trust me, this is a big deal! the state fair in Texas is absolutely huge! it is definitely all about the food.  i tried some pretty ridiculous fried foods like fried beer and fried cookie dough. the fried beer was disgusting, but the cookie dough was pretty much amazing. i also had a frozen banana dipped in chocolate and "tater twisters" covered in cheese and jalepenos. yum. we didn't get to do as much as i wanted to do like ride rides and see some of the shows, but i plan on going back next week with the mister. the state fair is definitely one of my favorite events of the year.

it's Big Tex! he's 49 feet tall. he actually talks every hour on the hour, and his jaw and hands move. i'd imagine this to be pretty traumatizing for the little ones.

my best friend Lindsey in front of Tex with her Fletcher's corn dog.

me looking completely awkward in front of Tex.

i thought it was hilarious that this man was wearing the exact same shirt as Tex!

this sculpture is made entirely from butter! there is a different one every year. this year it was a representation of the UT/OU game.

 twisted tater love.

me feeding a baby goat.

Lindsey feeding a camel. he was so gentle!

me getting freaked out by how gentle mister camel was.

wittle baby donkey.

the ferris wheel. i didn't get the chance to ride it today. next time...
